Old cars in exchange for cash vouchers

The Federation of Motor and Credit Companies (FMCC) had made a proposal to Proton to start voluntary scrapping of cars that are 15 years and older.

A voucher worth RM 5000 will be given to the owners for their car as down payment for a new or used national car.

An attempt to reduce old cars on the road and revive the car industry in Malaysia by the FMCC.

Basically, you turn in your Honda CRX, your R32 Skylines, your first legendary Proton Saga with the Mitsubishi engine in it for the down payment of a *tin can car. Heck, RM5000 is the amount of money you'll probably get if you sell your car as scrap metal! And what if the next car in plan is neither a Proton or a Perodua? RM5000 voucher to clean your feces the day after? It better be a big piece of voucher then.

The engine and seats of a R32 Skyline is worth about the same of the amount offered already. Imagine trading a candy off a baby with a grain of sand! Even the infant will not accept such absurd trade!

A rattling old Toyota KE-70 in working condition costs at least RM5000, and that offer can only be found in East Malaysia. The only way I can imagine of in order to work the plan is that the government forbids cars aged 15 and above on the roads. But, Malaysia not yet ready changes of such scale due to the poverty rate in the country. Unless Malaysia runs out of sane people to run the government and hires some guy that is 60% bald, 80% drunk, and puts 100% of the blames onto his God. But then again, that happened already..


*tin can cars: Vehicles whose crumple zone is from the front bumper to the rear bumper. Crushes upon impact; no matter what the amount, something will break. Mainly Protons, Peroduas, Fords.
