Stage one: Complete

The Sheffield University Students' Union (SUSU) *Yes, susu means milk in malay but it stands for boobs in East Coast Malaysia and Brunei* had been a huge part of my university life. 4 years ago, It was MASSoc. Being a member and later taking upon the Society. 2 years ago I've started participating in things organised by the International Students' Committee (ISC) after a break from MASSoc. Last year, was asked to join the Representative Committee, representing the South East Asia Region.

Within the time frame, I've got to work with people across the world. Even got lucky and hooked up with one of them recently. =) Anyways, after being a work hog 2 years ago, helping out and advising the committee this year together with a few experienced people on the team had been fun. Stressful no less, and I wouldn't deny the fact that it had an effect onto my academic work too. But it was fun. I've met people, I've made valuablefriends. I've seen the bad side of things, and the good side of things of course!

Stage one signifies the involvement within the union. After the AGM, I've signed off from the Rep Committee. I've sign off from MASSoc 2 years ago. A huge part of my uni life is over. I bid you farewell, and I hope not to be called upon regarding union issues next year. Because I believe the new committee will be able to handle it. Its a learning curve, I've learnt, now its time for a new batch of energetic and enthusiastic people to gain such experience. Take over now, and I wish you all good luck.

Reason for Inactivity

Too much International Cultural Evening stuff, SO SO SO much more to be done for thesis, SO little time to socialise outside the working committee, So little time for myself to do anything.

Thank you for reading.

Its not gonna get any better until June I'm afraid.

Live a good life as some might say, I say enjoy the moments you have, especially if you have nothing to do.

I'm worried about my 40/120 credits thesis. Yes I am.

Nowadays

Lack of sleep makes you an agitated man. Fact.
Too much work makes you lazy. Fact.
It sucks when the weather is nice and one would have to stay indoors to work. Fact.
I want to sleep. Fact.
I don't have time to sleep. Fact.
I am lazy. Fact.
The current situation suck. Fact.
Doing it for a good cause made things better. Fact.

But there's a team of people that are facing the same problem at the moment.
And many others facing bigger problems. Starvation, dehydration, war, bombs, violence, clinging on to everything they've got to stay alive. Who are we to complain for the fact that you have the luxury of using a piece of technology to read this post?

So why not just give it a moment,

Look, and be thankful that you are not blinded by fallen structures.
Breathe, and be thankful of the air you inhale are not fumes of war.
Feel, and be thankful that your sensors are not paralysed by the rubble that fell upon millions of others.
Listen, and be grateful that it is not the cries of pain that falls upon your ears.
Look around, and be grateful of the shelter upon you.
Why not instead of thinking of what you are going through, think of what you have and be grateful for it?

Enjoy what you have in life right now. Smile, and have fun.

Times where you go, "What the fuck?!"

Cross roads

I've got a problem with cross roads with life.

Never seem to be able to make up my mind on what I should be doing.

Burnt out passion, burnt out patience.

Probably stress and the dead brain talking. But god damn I miss my country.

ZIPPO IS BACK!

Had 3 parcels to collect today. Ben, your CD is with me now and as usual I request permission to rip some songs. Can? :D Will then pass to Hock to bring it back to Malaysia.

Anyway! One of the parcel consist of the zippo lighter I've sent for repair. As suspected the flint spring worn out therefore the lack of spark. They often send a re-con lighter back together with the lighter you sent, no exception this time.

Had a moment during my study break to swap the new with the old. Well, not really a study break but I made it one anyway..

Reason for changing is that the lighter within is of a different production year as you can see below. The original lighter was manufactured in year 2002, while the one they sent me was manufactured in year 2009.

Original casing that came back with tightened hinge.

Original lighter mad in year 2002

Replacement lighter sent by Zippo

Spent a little time replacing the cotton and flint from the replacement lighter to the original one. Not to say I'm not happy with the job Zippo done for free but I'd prefer things to be at where they belong. Because this lighter have sentimental values. It was a gift from one of my brothers back home.

Thanks Zab! The Zippo is now back in action!

PS: Thanks to the guys in Zippo too!

Allah

I'm a non-believer but I do respect other people's religion.

So what's all this bit about Church burning over the word "Allah"?

Its word used by all Abrahamic faith. Which came from the same bloody place!
[If you its inappropriate using the word "bloody", I apologise but still I meant it literally]

Riots in streets, among people, even bringing it up to the high courts. Was it even necessary? Do we really don't have anything else to do now a days now that we're lucky not to be affected as much by the financial crisis due to lessons learnt from the 97 Asian Financial Crisis?

Had our high courts got bored by all the political issues and henceforth plunging into this religious word war? Its a word for god's sake. Yes, literally again.

Imagine arguing on the use of the word "soap".

Soap fanatic:
Don't you dare call that sea shell shaped thing soap. My soap at home is an oval bar! It does the same thing by getting grease off your hands, but don't you dare call it soap!

Don't feel too intelligent now do you? Damn fanatics.

PS: It goes both ways.

Refrigerate to keep fresh

A week ago there was a chaotic freeze all over the UK. No the temperature ain't -20 C in Sheffield but up north it was. We had it easy with no less than -7C. The whole chaos was due to the lack of preparation. The nation is running out of grit, cars stuck on slopes, unfortunately I live down in a valley therefore cabs don't come up my apartment's street no more.

But look what it left us with.

The man ain't dead yet but a certain creature of the aves wasn't as lucky..

It had then became the guideline as to how thick the snow was for the past week..

PS: Woke up after my 13 hours of sleep and this was what met the eyes

Its a bird eat bird world out there. So refrigerate to keep fresh.

Happy New Year

Happy new year to all! Started the first year by holding people hostage from 10pm on the eve till 1pm and then a nice lunch topped it all off. Later the day was just wasted sleeping from 6 till 11. Felt like the first day of new year was spent in pure alcohol influence, but it was a good party!

Awesome year ahead people! You've got 2 years to live if you believe in those stuff! SO make every day the last day!

I LOVE THE FREEDOM!

PS: Loving the predictions on snow falls.. 3 years of being here, and this year there was actually snow on December itself. Awesome! Not too awesome for outdoor activities but essentially, its all good! Stay home, and chill :P
