China had yet to accept foreign help but the International Olympics Committee had agreed to fund 7 Million yuens to aid relief efforts.

The Disasters Emergency Committee has brought together 13 charities, including Oxfam and the Red Cross, to run a co-ordinated appeal:

British Red Cross was on the ground soon after the storm hit. It is gearing up to meet survivors' needs for shelter and clean water. £5 will provide water purification tablets for 60 people:

Oxfam is supporting partners in Burma and will be working with the UN and other agencies to provide additional aid. You can support its efforts by making a donation to the DEC or to its emergency fund, which is used to finance its emergency work around the world:

Save the Children is working in all the worst hit areas. It is distributing food and items including plastic sheeting to those hit hardest by the disaster. It is seeking donations to it general fund:
